These turbulent times have heightened our appreciation for the partnerships we have with so many terrific companies. This past year tested their business models and their people, and we are pleased with their resiliency and growth they delivered. It was particularly gratifying to see the management teams within our private equity portfolio companies collaborate across companies to address shared challenges concerning employee safety, pandemic-related business disruption, and racial equity. During the year, Berkshire Private Equity generated seven new investments, deploying approximately $2 billion across our core sectors of expertise. We remain appreciative of the long-time collaboration between Stockbridge, our public equity affiliate, and private equity in navigating the market volatility of this past year.
